Patrick's Lesson

Patrick’s Lesson

Reflection:

In the film that we just saw, I learned that we should always listen to what our parents say. They say certain things for a reason because they know better. They are more experienced than us. Patrick, however, did not listen. And that is why he got stung by a scorpion. His parents wanted to keep him from danger, but he refused to listen. His parents clearly told him do not wear sandals, but he did it anyways. His parents took him to a hospital and from that experience we all should learn not to take our parents advice for granted.

“Always do right.”

-          Mark Twain

Reflection:

I think what Mark Twain is trying to say is that you always have to choose the right. Always do the right choice. Because if you do the right action, life will repay you back with something maybe even better than what you just did. It makes you a better person. Always choose the right.

When You Tell One Lie It Leads To Another

When You Tell One Lie It Leads To Another

Lyrics by: Paul Hatch

When you tell one lie it leads to another
So you tell two lies to cover each other
Then you tell three lies and, Oh Brother,
You’re in trouble up to your ears!
So you tell four lies to try to protect you
Then you tell five lies so folks won’t suspect
You
Then you tell six lies and you’ll collect
A life filled with worries and fears
‘Cause you can’t remember how many lies
You’ve told
And half the things you say aren’t true
And  sometime you’ll slip up, you’ll trip up
And then
Whatever will become of you?
So you lie and lie without even trying
And each lie you tell will keep
Multiplying
‘Till the whole wide world will know
You’re lying
The you’ll be
Suspected
Detected
Rejected
Neglected
Disliked
And you should!
When you lie, you’re closing the door

On everything good

“When you Tell One Lie, it leads to Another.”

-          Paul Hatch

Reflection:

I think what Paul is trying to say is that when you tell a lie to someone it will always follow you. You will always remember it. It will keep building up and up and up until you can’t hold it in anymore and you just explode and that’s why people have terrible lives, because they lie.

“The Three Questions:

1.     Can people trust me to do what’s right?

2.     Am I committed to doing my very best?

3.     Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?

If the answers to these questions are yes, there is no way you can fail”

-          Lou Holtz

Reflection:

For the most part, I have answered like two out of the three questions with a yes. The one I said no to was “am I committed to doing my very best”. I said no because I don’t give anything my 100% unless I want to and I feel like it or if it’s one of my favorite things to do. Maybe that’s way I seem to fail some things. I don’t give it my all. I think I’ll try to change that now

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness off the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”

-          President John F. Kennedy

Reflection:

John F. Kennedy had a point about physical fitness. Physical fitness is basically the ying yang of health in general. With physical fitness you’re mentally relaxed, emotionally stabled, and fit! Physical fitness keeps you feeling good about yourself and your body. It’s an obvious visual statement.

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well. There is always a tradition the day after thanksgiving. It’s called Black Friday where you literally shop till you drop. Prayers of thanks and special thanksgiving ceremonies are common among almost all religions after harvests and at other times

Reflection:

The twelve top things I am extremely thankful for is:

1.     My mother’s health and wellbeing.
2.      My younger brother.
3.      My soon-to-be baby sister.
4.      My friends.
5.      My new own room.
6.      My own bed.
7.      My health.
8.      My cheer coaches and cheer mates.
9.      WiFi
10.  The invention of Ramune Soda.
11.  Gummy candy.

12.  Last but not least, Kanye West.

Video Responses

The video clip our teacher has presented us today was inspirational. It was a young man, not much older than I am, who had a disability but a great passion for basketball. During the last game of the season, he was put play. Little did he know, his coach had everything set up for him. Although Mitchell, the boy with the disability, missed all his shots, the last one was unforgettable for himself and his family and his teammates. One of the opponents has passed him the ball in one of the few minutes they had left in th quarter. Mitchell caught the ball and shot it right perfectly into the hoop leading up to a victory for his school. This was an amazing act of kindness and the opponent that tossed Mitchell the ball was showing an example of sportsmanship. Everyone should be like this, And learn from this. A little act of kindness can go a long way.

“If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it.”

-          Marcus Aurelius

Reflection:

What this statement is trying to say, is not to say or give out or do false statements. For it is actually a waste of time and it will not help you out for anything. Do not tell a lie and do not do an action that will lead you to consequences you are not ready to face nor are ready to serve. Marcus Aurelius was very well spoken about this statement and I do agree with him.

However, if you are a wise person, you will be surrounded by people who choose the right and if you choose the right you will fulfill your certain needs and that’s why it’s always good to be choosing the right and never the wrong.

Christopher Columbus was a Genoese explorer, navigator, and colonizer, born in the Republic of Genoa. Current Events - USA vs ISIS

Current Events

Apparently, research from CNN , states that Obama has “misunderstood” ISIS. Now actually, considering myself a well involved citizen of the United States, I am actually uneducated about this as much as the media. The media is not stating the correct information for NBC and CNN tend to say different things about the situation that’s going on with ISIS. I personally think Obama himself should stop sending troops into the middle east.  Supposedly our war with the middle east has ended, but apparently not because of all the conflict that is going on between us like saying who’s car is bigger than his car. I’m honestly seeing a lot of violence here. But what I’m not seeing at all, is communication. I know right? What is talking going to solve? Actually communication will most likely get us to the bottom point of our problems with the middle east. We should stop sending troops. Make tea, not war. This entire situation just reminds me of two neighborhood children fighting who’s bike is better than who’s. This is idiotic and Obama will put us in more debt, there is no doubt about it.

Reggie Bush

Reggie Bush

In my opinion, I think what Reggie Bush did, was a disgrace to the NCAA. To be titled such a high title and be awarded with the greatest things ever was overrated. He didn’t deserve any of it (the fame and the fortune) because his team mates, although was working as hard as him, didn’t receive so much spotlight during their winning year. The Heisman Trophy should have never been given to Mr. Bush. This was a big shameful cloud shone over him and USC football coaches.
