Student Success Statement #52

“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing.”

-          Theodore Roosevelt

Reflection:

I think what Theodore Roosevelt meant by saying the best thing you can do is the right thing, is that every time we are faced with a decision we must either choose the right one or the wrong one. We might not like the decision but it will be the best decision. Also that it doesn’t mean that the type of situation you are in, it matters how you will strive for it.

Video Response

In the video we just saw is about an old man who practice basic mainstream medicine. His name is DR. Bob. He charges absolutely no fees and he tries his best to give back to the low poverty income community he both lives in and works in. Every single penny he earns it goes right back to the hospital he works at. He treats his patients with love and care and basically how a human being and a doctor should be treating their patients. They all love him for being such a good contributor to the community.

“Make each day your master piece. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better, and over a period of time you become a lot better.”

-          John Wooden

Reflection:

I think what Wooden meant by this quote is that you have to give a little of yourself. You have to push yourself to be the best. Little by little. It all determines how much you want it. You’ll become the best if you kept trying and trying. As long as you give yourself a little push you can be so much better.

Video Response: Western Oregon vs. Central Washington

Video Response

In the video we just watched, we witnessed sportsmanship.  Mallory and Liz from the opposite team helped carry Sara cross the bases around the baseball diamond and touched the bases with her left leg. This was her first home run in all of her softball career. She fell and couldn’t pick herself up because she landed on her knee. Sara has a thing about people touching her and her coach became worried because she knew about Sara’s condition. The opposing team’s players asked her if it’s fine if they can lift Sara and the coach responded saying yes. Then they went over to Sara asking for her consent. With her approval the two players lifted her and carried her across the bases to the dugout. This was a great experience to witness because it showed me how people should be treating each other during games. Everyone should learn from this video.

-          Pam Knox

Reflection:

I think what this quote means is that when someone steps up to do the right thing they will be thanked for what they did. Also that if they decide to choose the right they will be honored and acknowledge for their good effort and will. That’s what it takes to be a CTR person.

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”

-          Henry David Thoreau

This quote means that the good thing we can give to someone is goodness. The reason is because the goodness will be passed on to upcoming generations and it will lead to a good life to prosperity and wellbeing. Plus the world always needs some goodness here and there.

World Records

World Records

“Most apples crushed with the bicep in one minute”

This world record was held by Lindsay Lindberg from Milan, Italy. It took place March 3rd of 2014. The most apples crushed with the bicep in one minute are 10 and she did that.

“Heaviest birth – triplets”

The heaviest babies were a combined weight of 22 pounds. Each child weighed an estimate of 7 pounds. The mother, Michelle Lee Wilson from Englewood USA, was awarded with this record on July 29th, 2003.

“Longest time holding a vertical person overhead”

The longest time to hold a person above the head in partner stunt that required one hand only was 1 minute and 16 seconds and was achieved by Markus Ferber and Clarissa Beyelschmidt from Germany. They were announced that they had the title in Rome, Italy on 11 March 2010.

What is my favorite world record?

My favorite world record would have to be the baby weight record. It fascinated me because of how much the mother can be able to push out all three heavy babies. Like that must be one strong muscle to be able to push out all those kids! And to raise all three, someone give that mother a trophy.

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.

-          Theodore Hesburgh

Reflection:

This quote means that when we make a decision we make sure that we make the right one, instead of choosing the one that doesn’t lead us into danger and unfortunate causes. Sometimes the decision we make is believed from our gut. And normally it’s right. We have to start making all the shaming and illegal uses unpopular and start making an actual welcoming community. We have to start choosing the right.
