Anesthesiologist

Anesthesiologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administer anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal or caudal methods. Monitor patient before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications. And to coordinate administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operation.

Salary:

$350,554 (Annual Median Salary)

Education:

Even before entering college, those interested in a career in anesthesiology need to think about the kinds of classes taken in high school. Classes with a math and science concentration certainly go a long way in preparing a future anesthesiologist for success in college and medical school. They also need to attend a four-year undergraduate program and prospective anesthesiologists are required to attend four years of medical school where they generally spend the first two years building on basic sciences and the second two in clinical training.

Reflection:

I think I’d like to become an anesthesiologist. It seems like a fun job to do. I like to work with chemicals and since the patient will fall asleep easily, I think it would be a very simple task and the pay is amazing. I think I’d be qualified for this position.
