Student Success Statement #61

Student Success Statement

“The ultimate choice you will ever make, one choice supersedes all others- the ultimate choice. This one choice will help you to always make correct decisions. This one choice, The Ultimate Choice, is your keystone to being the best student and person you can possibly be. This one choice will forever affect you for good more than any other choice. The Ultimate Choice is: to be a CTR Person – to always Choose The Right.”

Reflection:

This statement has been repeated to me for a year now to build common sense, a skill for humanitarian belief, a push to strive for academic success, a push to pursue a spiritual connection with myself and to become a better human being overall. This quote and this saying will probably be attached to me forever since it’s an easy quote to remember.

Student Success Statement #60

Student Success Statement

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

-          Thomas Carlyle

Reflection:

I think what Carlyle is trying to say is that a man without a goal is absolutely nothing. He has no ambition. He will go nowhere in life. Just like a ship without a rudder, he won’t go anywhere. He won’t get anywhere he wants to because he has no goal or ambition. There’s no purpose to it.

Student Success Statement #59

Student Success Statement

“If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.”

-          Chinese Proverb

Reflection:

What this proverb is basically trying to explain is that if there in beauty, harmony, and order in the person, that creates a sense of character. Those are the pillars to the Chinese. It is similar to our proverbs in a way because they both have to have peace and beauty and order within them to be a good character.

I think these are the basic guide to being a good person. If you are fair, you’re a good person. If you can be trustworthy and responsible, you’re a good person. There is so many different ways to show how to be a good person. These pillars are one of many, but these are the original basics.

“I would prefer to fail with honor than win by cheating.”

-          Sophocles

Reflection:

It is always better to fail at something and to admit that you did and own up to your failure and to your mistakes or else it’ll haunt you for a good amount of time. It’ll follow you around and it will make you feel guilty and you’ll have to confess to it sooner or later.
